2 SOCIAL POSITIONING:

The Roles White Supremacy Allows Us To Play—Even With Each Other

White Men have been positioned historically in society as all-powerful and White Women have been positioned historically as pure and fragile. Black Women and Men have too been position, historically in very specific ways to justify Slavery and our continued oppression.

This module covers the four popular social positions Black Women have been boxed into that has us be used and related to as the workhorse, cash cow, scapegoat or beast of burden for the American Dream.

The same goes for Black Men.

There are four major social positions that are used over and over again to justify putting Black Men in jail, being shot by the police and even (breathe through this one) PARTNERING with White Supremacy against Black People (think Kanye West, Candance Owens, Daniel Cameron, Immanuel Jarvis, etc.)

By understanding the social positions we are placed in, you reclaim your power.

Now you can either use social positions for your own purposes or speak directly to them, robbing the position of its historical power. #yay

3 STAY ALIVE:

Slavery’s Survival Strategies Are Now Our “Normal.”

DISMANTALING SLAVERY’S SURVIVAL STRATEGIES:

See Them. Sooth Them. Triumph Over Them!

In order to survive the institution of Slavery, Black Women and Men developed strategies to stay alive. However, after Emancipation, the survival strategies that kept us alive didn’t go away. They became a way of life for each of us and were pasted down as cultural identity traits, unexamined, and undistinguished as such.

And what’s more, the survival strategies worked. They kept us alive—and still do.

But these same behaviors, only allow us to “survive.”

Because these survival strategies were created in crisis, we tend to fall back on them when we are in a crisis. If it feels like a threat, we are right back on the Plantation using the survival strategies our ancestors used to stay alive. It is not a choice. It is a physiological condition that’s triggered, sometimes by the people we love the most.

This module will open your eyes to why when a crisis comes—be it economic, political, or emotional—Black Women and Men turn survival strategies into weapons to hurt, sabotage, and undermine the greater good and each other.

Enough with the “crabs in a barrel” wound!

Survival strategies are just that: strategies. Here, you will learn how to see them, sooth them, and dismantle them without anyone ever realizing your survival strategy was about to trash your parenting, business, relationship, an election, charity work, or your dreams.

4 HEALING HISTORY:

Honoring Our Wounds To Make Us Whole

Healing is the key to reunifying the Black Family. The healing I am referring to is spiritual healing at the level of our “collective consciousness.” Every culture has a collective consciousness that is rooted in cultural trauma:

Apartheid. The Holocaust. Trail of Tears. Hiroshima. Colonialism.

For the descents of slaves in North America, our cultural consciousness is tied directly to the wound of chattel slavery.

The buck STOPS here. This is where we turn survival into salvation!!!

In this module, we focus our attention on healing an ancestral wound that’s still bleeding as gunshots, domestic violence, and villainizing each other.

Surviving trauma doesn’t mean you’re healed. Slavery was a trauma. Many of us, specifically Black Men, have emotional triggers, tripwires, and internal debit accounts that accidentally are activated by Black Women when she herself is in a reaction. It’s a cycle. But we can end it. Right here. Right now.
